A case where the NEET cut-off score is reduced to zero; Delhi High Court directs Central Government to respond

A case where the NEET cut-off score is reduced to zero

The Delhi High Court has ordered the central government to respond to the case related to reduction of merit marks in the NEET Masters examination.

The National Examinations Agency conducts the ‘NEET’ entrance exam every year for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses including MPBS, BDS, etc. All over the country, students who have completed Plus-2 have written the NEET exam and are joining government medical colleges.

In this case, the qualifying mark (cut-off) for NEET Masters has been reduced to zero. According to this, the central government’s medical consultation committee issued a notification on the 20th that even if the qualifying marks in the NEET exam are zero, one can participate in the counseling for the MDMS course.

This offer is given to the students who are participating in the 3rd round of medical consultation after completing the 2nd round of post graduate medical consultation. In this case, 3 medical students who had already appeared for the post-graduate NEET examination filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court against this notification.

In that petition, they had claimed that the purpose of the NEET Master’s examination has been distorted due to the Central Government’s notification and therefore the notification should be cancelled. Hearing this petition, Justice Purushendra Kumar Gaurav directed the Union Ministry of Health, National Board of Examinations and Medical Consultative Committee to respond to this petition.
