On the occasion of Vinayagar Chaturthi, 18th September is declared as a public holiday for all ration shops. In the list of public holidays of Tamil Nadu government, the holiday for Vinayagar Chaturthi festival was announced as September 17. The government has issued an order changing this date to September 18. The order has been issued to apply to ration shops as well.
