It has been reported that the Tamil Nadu government is planning to take over the Chennai Beach- Velachery flying train service. The Integrated Transport Group has called for a tender to select a company to prepare a business plan report.

It has also been decided to prepare a business plan report for acquisition of all services from rail operation. The Chennai Metropolitan Integrated Transport Corporation has decided to renovate the flying rail stations and make them look like metro rail stations.
Also, railway stations including Manthiveli and Perungudi on this route are to be upgraded.

A tender has been called for by the Chennai Metropolitan Integrated Transport Corporation. The existing railway stations will be upgraded and various facilities including shopping malls, restaurants and parking will be established.
