Every year on September 5th, ‘Teacher’s Day’ is celebrated. On this day, teachers who have excelled in their profession are honored at both the national and state levels.

Teachers are selected through a selection process conducted by the central and state governments, and they are awarded with national and state-level teacher excellence awards, certificates, and accolades.

In the current scenario, the National Teacher Excellence Award has been expanded to include teachers from the Department of Higher Education and the Department of Skill Development and Vocational Education. In this manner, a total of 75 individuals, comprising 50 school teachers, 13 higher education teachers, and 12 teachers specializing in pedagogical and vocational training, have been selected from across the country to receive the Teacher Excellence Awards.

From Madurai district in Tamil Nadu, Mr. T. Kadvan, a high school teacher at Alangannallur Government School, and Ms. S. Malathi, a high school teacher at Keelapavoor Veerakeralampudur Government School in Tenkasi district, have been selected through a selection process.

The National Teacher Excellence Award ceremony will take place today, September 5th, at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi, where President Dravupathi Murmu will present the awards. Recipients of the award will receive a certificate, a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, and a silver medal as part of the recognition.
