Tiruvannamalai has the world famous Arunachaleswarar Temple. This temple is known as Agni Sthala among Pancha Bhutha Sthalas. Among the festivals held here, Karthigai Deepa festival is very special. Lakhs of devotees from outside districts and states will visit not only local people to witness this festival. And many people from abroad will also visit.

This year’s Karthiga Deepa festival begins tomorrow with flag hoisting. Maha Deepam will be lit on the top of the hill early in the morning on 26th. A survey of the basic facilities, security facilities, drinking water and transport required by the devotees who come to witness this event, the inspection meeting was held today at the Thiruvannamalai District Collectorate.Hindu Religious Endowments Minister Shekhar Babu and Public Works Minister AV Velu participated in this meeting.

The inspection meeting also revealed that only 2,500 devotees are allowed to climb the mountain during the Kartiga Deepa festival.The district revenue officer also said that pilgrims are prohibited from going to the hill without it.
