The Supreme Court has ordered that the Tamil Nadu government’s ordinance banning single-use plastic products will go ahead.
From July 1 last year, it announced that single-use plastic items should not be used.The Tamil Nadu government issued an ordinance banning the production, import, storage, distribution, sale and use of these products.
A case was filed in the Supreme Court against this order. The case came up for hearing today. The Supreme Court has ordered that the Tamil Nadu government’s order banning single-use plastic products will go ahead.
Also, the Supreme Court has instructed the Tamil Nadu government to review the ban on paper cups based on the central government’s practices.
