In this situation, Collector Rajagopal of Erode district has emphasized the importance of celebrating the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival with environmental protection.

The Vinayagar statues made from clay should only be produced using environmentally friendly materials that do not harm the ecosystem, such as plaster of Paris, plastic, and thermocol (polystyrene). These statues should be immersed in water bodies in an environmentally safe manner. For decorating the statues, natural materials like high-quality flowers and leaves, as well as bamboo, can be used. Furthermore, natural pigments from trees can be utilized to color the statues in an eco-friendly manner.
Coloring of statues should not involve toxic and non-biodegradable chemical dyes and artificial colors. It is essential to avoid using chemicals like lead and synthetic dyes for coloring statues. Instead, eco-friendly natural dyes that are safe for the environment and suitable for immersion in water bodies should be used.
Only natural materials and natural dyes should be used to embellish the statues. The Vinayagar statues can be immersed in water bodies only in the designated locations as per the regulations of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. Collector Rajagopal has stated this in the news release.
