CBCL has explained that the work to remove the oil spill is going on intensively.
The Chennai Petroleum Corporation (CBCL) gave an explanation regarding the oil spill in the sea near Ennore and said:-
36 hours of non-stop rain due to Cyclone Mijam flooded the refinery.The floodwaters mixed with the treatment plant’s contaminated sewage system due to the unprecedented flooding. There is no leakage in the treatment plant pipes due to flooding.
We use proper tools to remove oil as per pollution control board instructions. We are monitoring the work round the clock as per the guidelines of the state government. Buoys are used to prevent the spread of oil in the sea.
Oil spill removal is underway with a specialized company. 125 people with 60 boats involved in oil spill removal. The work of cleaning the affected houses is going on for 2 days. It has been said.
