Due to the atmospheric downward circulation prevailing over Tamil Nadu, the Northeast Monsoon has been intensifying in Tamil Nadu for the last 2 days. Accordingly, between 8.30 am yesterday morning and 8.30 am yesterday, 45 places in Tamilnadu received heavy rain (up to 11 cm) and very heavy rain in 8 places.(up to 20 cm) is falling. Apart from this, very heavy rainfall (more than 20 cm) has also been recorded at 2 places. Maximum 37 cm at Mettupalayam. The rain has settled.
As a result of this, the upper atmospheric circulation prevailing over Tamil Nadu is now prevailing over Kerala regions and due to this, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry eather report predicts light to moderate rain at many places today (24-11-2023) and tomorrow (25-11-2023).
And one or two places in Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Kancheepuram districts today, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Villupuram Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to receive heavy rain at one or two places Tommorrow.
Accordingly, on the 26th (Sunday), a new low pressure area will form in the South Andaman Sea and its surrounding areas.The next day (Monday) there is a possibility that it will strengthen and prevail as a depression in South East Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea areas.
